Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

Respectful Relationships 4 (1)

Epping Views Primary School implements the Respectful Relationships Initiative, which teaches children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence, while supporting the wider school community to promote and model respect and equality. The Respectful Relationships curriculum acknowledges that children of all ages face challenges and teaches social and emotional skills appropriate to their age and level of maturity. At Epping Views Primary School, we teach Respectful Relationships as a core component of the Victorian Curriculum, primarily centred around the Personal and Social Capability.

As a school, we utilise the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships teaching and learning materials developed by the University of Melbourne. These lessons are taught throughout the year and provide students with opportunities to learn and practise social skills and apply them positively to learning, life and relationships. The program covers eight key topics at each year level and aims to empower children and young people to develop healthy, equal and respectful friendships and relationships. The classroom curriculum materials complement our existing wellbeing programs and philosophy, while further enhancing our work in student wellbeing, inclusion, resilience and positive relationships.
